Reverend Gerald "Jerry" Johnson of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the age of 73 years.

Jerry was born on July 22, 1935 in Evansville, IN to Emmett and Delores (Blair) Johnson, one of four children.

After graduating high school, he married Myrna Darlene Erdman.

He honorably served his country in the U.S.A.F. and later attended William Jewell College and St. Paul School of Theology obtaining a Master of Divinity in 1977. As an ordained United Methodist pastor, he served the following Missouri Methodist Churches: Galt Circuit 1973-75, Marlborough/Kansas City 1975-77, Grace/Sullivan 1977-86, Eureka 1986-90, Houston 1990-92, Paris/Madison 1992-97 and as part-time Chaplain at BJC Hospital/Sullivan.

He was active for many years in storytelling and gave seminars at various colleges and 30+ schools. He often dressed as John Wesley or singers of the constitution. He was a member of MO-TELL Storytelling Assoc. for many years, a member of Rotary, Civil War Roundtable/St. Louis, Sullivan Ministerial Alliance (president 4 years), MOBAP Hospital/Sullivan Auxiliary, Friends of General Harney House, Inc., Franklin County Board of Health, board of Sullivan Emergency Assistance, served 4 years on the MEAAA board and Sullivan Senior Dining Center, and started the senior nutrition site at Marlborough United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Reverend Jerry Johnson were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2008, at Grace United Methodist Church, Sullivan. With interment at Champion City Methodist Church Cemetery; Reverend Steve Williams officiate. Gifts of remembrance can be sent to Grace United Methodist Church/Sullivan or Lewy Body Dementia Association.
