Married 14 Aug 1816 (25 years married) to: Elizabeth "Bettie" Terry, daughter of David Terry and Reed. Married name: Bomar, born 1785, died 6 Oct 1841 Gladesville, TN, 55 or 56 years, buried Sherrill Cemetery Wilson County TN Fran West SwftOtter@aol.com Date: Tue, 5 Jan 1999 16:48:41 EST Ok here is another poss. connection to think about that you can add to you paper file. My Kibble/Keeble's brother Robert Henry Terry is the exec. to Peter Proby's estate (James M. Proby is his brother and brother in law to my Kibble. James names the 3 brothers as his "brothers" in his will proven 1867 Bedford Co. TN) . Peter Proby is m. to Ann Sarah Bomar dau. of Bibby Bomar and they married in Halifax Co. VA.. Her cousin Rev. William Johnson Bomar son of Spencer Bomar ( brother to Bibby Bomar) m.Elizabeth"Bettie" Terry dau. of David Terry b. 1765 Jamestown, VA d. 1840 Smith Co. TN & Miss Reed. Bettie's sister Jane m. William MOORE and moved to Texas about 1851. These families are being connected by marriage, Bomar to Proby, Proby to Terry and Bomar to Terry and along comes a m. to a Moore. And then there is John Terry b. 1774 NC m. to Sarah Moore. Am I crazy or is this another "poss." connection between my Terry and John/Sarah? Has anyone ever come up with a father for David? Is was not uncommon for cousins in one family grouping to marry cousins connected to another. Fuelfor thought. I have looked at all the issues you have posted. I am so thankful that you posted them. I have heard the 7 brothers story before from the cousins to my Julia Terry. Maybe in another 25 years someone just might come up with an answer. P.S. Thank you for putting" The Terry Family Historian " online. The Michigan State library does not carry a lot of books on the TN area so I only get to do research once a year when I go to TN to visit family. Children: 1. In the fall of 1853, according to the account of one of WJB's granddaughters, five of his sons came to Texas with their families and an uncle "Tommy Terry" (see "A Letter from Mrs. Ledbetter" Frontier Times, Vol 5, No 7, Apr 1928, p. 299). In this same published letter, Jennettie Bomar Ledbetter stated, "The family's health was so bad in Cooke and Grayson counties a friend, Dr. J. W. Hudson, advised my father to move to San Saba county, so he came here in August, 1857 . . ." William Wilshire Bomar died in Texas in 1854 and is buried in the Austin Street Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Dr Nathaniel Terry Bomar, another of the brothers, moved to Gainesville, Texas, where he set up his medical practice and remained until his death in 1898. Spencer Edmond Bomar remained in Sherman and died there in 1900. James Riley Bomar, Mrs. Ledbetter's father, moved to San Saba County where he lived until his death in 1917. David Terry Bomar presumably brought his family to Texas and returned to Tennessee before the 1860 census (perhaps at the same time as Elvira Willis Bomar). There is no mention of WJB coming to Texas with his sons, but the burial record found in the Sherman Public Library for W J Bomar, died 1854, would indicate that he did [see Note (1) above]. BOMAR WILLIAM WILSHIRE MARCH 17,1837 OCTOBER 15,1867 WEST HILL CEMETERY, SHERMAN, TX After the death of her husband, William Wilshire Bomar, in Grayson County Texas, Elvira A Bomar returned to TN. There she became administrator of his estate in Jan 1857. On the same page of the Administrator's Settlement Book 1854-1865 p 3 that gave us that information we found the names of all of there children: Phalonia Ann, David L. Reuben C., Elizabeth Jane and Lucy N Bomar "minor children of W.W. Bomar, dec'd" with William Floyd "agent and next friend". Mrs E A Bomar is buried in the same cemetery as her daughter, Lizzie Bomar, wife of J. M . Wood. Both are buried in Wood Cemetery, Centerville, Warren County, TN. 2. She was 106 years old when she died in 1933. Her grandson, Dr. William Douglas Martin (medical doctor), raised a boy, surname Beasley, who got the plantation house and 360 acres in the early 1960s. The house was located 9 miles south of Lebanon, TN. This would put the house in the Cherry Valley, TN area. During the Civil War, Emmaline was forced (at gun point) to cook for the Union soldiers, in her house. She had sons fighting in the Confederate States Army. 3.
