He was captured March 24, 1863, at Holly Grove, Tennessee, and sent to a P.O.W. camp at City Point, Virginia; he died within a month in a Yankee prison at Louisville, Kentucky. On file in the Alabama Department of Archives & History in Montgomery, Alabama, are pension records filed by Millie Box Frederick. The earliest Widows Application was filed May 27th, 1893. The application was filed in Russellville, located in Franklin County, Alabama. Judge of Probate at that time was W.M. Waltrip. On April 20, 1898, Millie would again file for pension benefits. Judge of Probate at that time was George C. Almon. On the Affidavit for Witnesses to Application of Widows, Register in Chancery is W.H. Austin. This application was signed June 8, 1900, and would contain two friends of Robert's. John T. Mansell (signed June 9) and A.W. Devaney (signed June 11).
