Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue by the Rev. James Mason, with burial in LaRue Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday afternoon and evening. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday by the LaRue Lodge 463 F&AM.
He died Tuesday night at Eastlawn Manor in Marion.
He was born June 26, 1888, in Marysville to Arthur and Jesse (Banks) Hoopes.
He was married to Hazel D. Hastings Dec. 17, 1918, in Atlanta, Ga., and she survives. He was a retired veterinarian, who had practiced 50 years in the LaRue area.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Randall (Betty) Huffman of LaRue and three grandchildren;
A sister is deceased.
He was a graduate of Ohio State University in veterinary medicine in 1914. He helped organize the North Central Veterinary Association, and
was past president of the Ohio Veterinary Association.
He was a World War I veteran, discharged as a lieutenant, and helped organize the LaRue American Legion post in 1919, and was a past commander. He joined the 40 et 8 in 1922, and was a past grand chef. He was chairman of the state child welfare committee for the organization in 1945. He was an honorary chef de gare in 1945, and was the national delegate from Ohio for 20 years for the group. He was known across the state for his initiation work, and was national historian in 1949-50.
He was a member of the LaRue Lodge F&AM for 56 years, and belonged to the Consistory in Columbus for 48 years, was a 32nd degree mason, a member of the Aladdin Shrine Temple for 48 years.
He was Republican township committeeman for 44 years, on the LaRue school board 193842, two-term Montgomery Township trustee, a Marion County draft board member during World War II and in 1970 was appointed to the Soldiers and Sailors Relief board of Marion County, and served through 1972.
